Anger in the Modern Governmental Workplace

I do not have access to records or have experience outside of my connections to the CDC. I do work with a wide range of people at the CDC via the phone. What I am finding is that the level of anger and fear has been rising for some time and is currently at a very high level.

I am not certain why this is happening. This is the one group, Federal Workers, who have real and total Job Security. The why are they becoming more and more angry and fearful in their everday life and communication?

My idea, conclusion, is this. It is not the FTE's in Atlanta. It is the Washington group that is the source and it is spreading from there. The rulers come and go, but Atlanta is not affected that much. Washington, however, seems to have a near revolution or nervous breakdown each time an election comes around. I suppose it is because the job promotion path is tied to whomever one is linked. Poor babies.

Therefore, to you Washington, I say this: The election this November will not bring about the end of the world. Life will go on and be what we each make of it. You will still have a job. You will still have your money and the world's second largest traffic jam. You can still take your 45 (+) days of leave whenever you want. You will always have great health care. You will continue to be the center of your own soap opera. Obama or Romney will not be the cause of the Mayan Calendar's Revenge. You will be safe in the bubble. Pretty much unharmed by the rest of the country.

What will happen is that the "Most Important Election" ever(y 2 to 4 years) will mean that life will not be on autopilot for a spell. I know that you, Washington, can do it. I believe in you as a place to reason a problem. I do not see you as a place to battle over the trivial. There is not enough time, money or energy to stay on that point of contention.

What is to be done with all of the Anger and Fear in the Governmental work place? Let us, as a nation,  drop it and let the past go. Getting your way is not winning. Building a better world, which is a very hard process, should be the goal.
